Haaland’s penalty is stopped in a boring draw

Manchester City again failed to win as the Premier League champions faced Everton at home.

Erling Haaland had the chance to give Pep Guardiola’s side a much-needed victory but his second-half penalty was saved by England number one Jordan Pickford.

City took the lead when Bernardo Silva saw a shot deflected off goal and beat Pickford.

But Iliman Ndiaye equalized Everton again with a magnificent cross shot with the outside of his boot.

City were awarded the penalty in the second half when Vitalii Mykolenko brought down Savinho, but Haaland’s tame effort was well saved by Pickford.

City have won once in their last 13 games in all competitions and sit sixth in the table.

They have lost 26 points in the league (more than in all of last season) and would need to win all their remaining games to equal last season’s 28-win streak.
