The Arsenal survived the controversial dismissal of the young support Myles Lewis-Skelly to ensure three vital points in Wolves and remain hot after Liverpool at the top of the Premier League.
Lewis-Skelly was shown a straight red card for a challenge about Matt Doherty after 43 minutes, the defender cut the former Tottenham man outside the Wolves area while trying to launch a counterattack. The referee Michael Oliver considered him a serious dirty game with his point of view backed by VAR, although it seemed a hard decision with visitors who rush to express their disgust.
Joao Gomes de Wolves was also sent to 20 minutes to the end, and there could be few complaints about that decision, with the arsenal scoring shortly afterwards through Riccardio Calafiori, who had been brought to part time when Mikel Arteta repaired his pack after Lewis-Skelly’s departure.
It was a well -deserved victory for the Gunners, who showed more intention of attack against one side of the wolves that remain in descent problems.
The victory keeps Arsenal six points behind Liverpool, who beat Ipswich 4-1 in Anfield.

The wolves were almost the architects of their own fall from the beginning, twice making a disaster in the back and almost offering an opportunity for Arsenal.
But Santiago Beuno cleared just ahead of Gabriel Martinelli after the first error before goalkeeper José Sa managed to fight after a strong touch almost allowed Kai Havertz the simplest end.
At the other end, Rayan Ait-Nouri approached, but could not connect with Pablo Sarabia’s free kick from the left.
Arsenal slowly began to affirm his authority, but Havertz wasted two presentable opportunities to open the score. The German has been widely criticized for his lack of murderous instinct in recent weeks, although he handled a goal and an assistance against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League in the middle of the week.
However, the German striker pushed his lines in Molineux. First, he planted a width header of a cross of Trosssard Leandro after 19 minutes and, five minutes later, the former Chelsea striker nodded with another Trossard cross directly to SA when he should have done better.
Martinelli saw his penalty appeals rejected by Oliver and Var after 26 minutes after feeling that Emmanuel Agbadou knocked him down.
Arsenal was angry, but that was nothing compared to the effusion of anger that accompanied the dismissal of Lewis-Skelly two minutes before the break.
Referee Oliver was not burying with Arsenal’s staff or fans and caused more shock of teeth within three minutes of the restart when Gomes, who was already in a yellow to kick the ball, did it again, but escaped more sanction .
The 10 men were dominant, however. Gabriel could not choose a teammate when he returned through the goal, Jurrien Timber saw an exhausted penalty appeal while SA had to go down well to save a Declan Rice effort.
At the other extreme, David Raya made an excellent salvation to deny the substitute Hwang Hee-chan before Hvertz put another header.
It was things from an end to end and the very admired Matheus Cunha could have scored twice in a matter of a minute. His initial effort was diverted and brought a fine saved and, from the resulting corner, the Brazilian fire throughout the fire.
The game changed in the 70th minute when the numbers matched. Gomes had clearly not learned from his previous deactivation and opened with wood with a horrible challenge and saw the inevitable second yellow and posterior red.
Arsenal took the most and Calafiori opened the scoring, breaking home after Nelson Semedo had made a mess of the Martinelli cross.
Wolves’s best opportunity of a draw fell to Ait-Nouri, but Raya left his line to repel his effort while Arsenal endured.
