The chief of Crystal Palace, Oliver Glasner, says that his team must find a way to compete without Eberrechi Eze after he stayed out of the Europe Conference League clash with Fredrikstad on Thursday.
The Eagles managed to obtain a 1-0 victory in their first European departure, with Jean-Phillipe Mateta obtaining the only goal of the game.
But there was a clear lack of quality on the side with Eze missing, something that can hinder them in the return section in Norway.
Speaking after the game, Glasner said: “When you play against such a deep block, you may need someone who can drip beyond one or two players and score on their own.
“This is what Eberrechi gives us. We have other profiles now, Ismaila is a broker, JP is in the box and accreven. We try to find them on the wings with many crosses in the box.
“EBS will no longer play for us, so it makes no sense to talk about him.
“It has gone. It seems that I wish you all the best for the new club and for us it is about bringing more players, but they will not be allowed to play in the second leg.
“We knew that more or less this would happen, so we have already been looking for weeks for correct replacements and we hope to do it in 10 days with more pressure.
“I will be involved, but it is my job to prepare the team for Nottingham Forest. We are undefeated this season so far and that is how we want to continue.”
President Steve Parish was also interrogated after the game in the absence of Eze, with the head of the Palace confirming the departure of his star man.
He said: “We have to overcome it. It has been fantastic for us and pleases us to fulfill its ambitions.
“We have to find other players to support the team and Oliver Glasner. We will bring players, it’s about finding the right players.
“I don’t think Oliver wants too many, I think it’s the right number. It’s about obtaining the right balance, we are a bit thin anyway. We are working on what we are working on and we will seek to get the quality we can.
“We are very lucky with Oliver because he is very involved, he is a manager very driven by the data. He is very specific about what he wants.
