Lance Barber was in the heart of some of the most emotional scenes of “Young Sheldon”, the most notable is the death of his character, George Cooper Mr., in the last season of the program. However, while many fans probably associate the Patriarch of Cooper with the most inducing moments of the comedy, Barber spilled water on a romantic scene. In an interview with Television lineHe explained that the episode in which Georgie Cooper (Montana Jordan) marries Mandy Mcallister (Emily Osment) did it well in the sensations, and had a lasting impact on him. As he explained:

“That was the first day I also felt emotional, and I kept hitting me again and again. And we are (Mary and George Cooper Mr.) did not even appear in that. That is a moment with Mandy and his father. It is beautiful, but I was a disaster for that scene at the wedding.”
Barber also pointed out that Georgie’s wedding scene and Mandy felt like seeing her own son marry, even though she is not related to Montana Jordan in real life. However, he played his comedy father for seven seasons and built a relationship with the young actor, along with his other castmates. That said, he enjoyed being part of the story of “Young Sheldon” that the cast and fans feared above all.
Lance Barber lost the scene of George Cooper’s death in “Young Sheldon” because he wanted the other actors to feel a sense of loss in the set. His absence helped his co -star to offer memorable and emotional performances, fueled by the knowledge that his mandate of working with Barber was coming to an end. However, the good news is that Barber was not so talled at the disappearance of his character as he saw his son on the screen. In fact, I was very happy to see George Matado, as he explained in an interview with Television intern:

“I have a selfish perspective that the way it is for my character is over because I think it is memorable. Egoistically, as an actor of characters, I can interpret (from the part) that the father of the United States comes to die on television. To have that as part of my legacy as a television actor, I think it is quite tidy.”
Despite George’s death, Barber is happy to repeat his role in the “first marriage of Georgie and Mandy”, which he does in the episode “Typhoid Georgie” of season 1. The scene in question sees George sharing an emotional moment with the character of Montana Jordan during a sequence of dreams, until he becomes a zombie. With luck, this leads to more outings for Barber in the Spin-Off “Young Sheldon”, since many fans are not yet ready to say goodbye to George.
