Garnacho beat notable competitors including West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus, Aston Villa’s Jaden Philogene (by a goal scored while on loan at Hull City) and Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco.
A statement from Manchester United read: “Congratulations to Alejandro Garnacho, who is the winner of the 2024 FIFA Puskas Award.
“The Manchester United winger has been recognized for the impressive and acrobatic bicycle kick he scored against Everton in November 2023.
“Congratulations to our number 17 and thanks to everyone who supported him. It is a goal we will cherish for years to come.”
Fans and a panel of FIFA legends participated in the voting process for the Puskas Award, ensuring that Garnacho’s goal received the approval of some of football’s most iconic figures.
This victory also places Garnacho alongside his idol Cristiano Ronaldo, who was the first winner of the Puskas Award in 2009.
Ronaldo claimed the honor for his powerful long-range shot against FC Porto during the Champions League quarter-finals in the 2008-09 season.
Garnacho now becomes the second Manchester United player to win the award.
