Customers who bought a video game on the website of the popular game retailer, Gamestop, during the last five years could be eligible for a payment under a recent agreement after an alleged privacy violation.
The collective demand, presented by Alejandro Aldana and Scott Gallie, accused Gamestop of sharing customer information without their consent.
The document said that Gamestop “revealed his personal identification information from online video game customers through the Facebook tracking pixel without consent, in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Law (VPPA).”

As a result of the $ 4.5 million agreement, impacted customers can receive cash payment of up to $ 5 or a coupon that is worth up to approximately $ 10 to use on the retail website, according to the demand.
Customers can qualify for compensation for the agreement if they bought a game on the Gamestop website between August 18, 2020 and April 17, 2025, and have a public Facebook account that shows the name used at the time of purchase.

To receive compensation, eligible customers must submit a claim on the Liquidation website to August 15.

Gamestop denies that he has violated any law, but has agreed to avoid the uncertainties and expenses associated with continuing the case, according to the website of the agreement.
Fox Business contacted Gamestop to comment, but did not receive a response for publication time.
