Elio Linda’s loan scene gives the movie Disney & Pixar a necessary reward

Pixar has been making movies since the time I was born, so it is a little I miss committing to the debates about whether the study has become long in the tooth and is now struggling for the relevance in its old age. Of course, the so -called golden era from the late 90s to the mid -2010 could go back more and more in the rearview mirror. But many of their films in the Pandemia era have compiled solid reviews, they are considered box office successes and fill an important niche among children that very few competitors seem interested in doing. “Elio”, which I reviewed in a quite positive /film here, will probably not become a great Turning Point ™ in any sense. It is a fun, cheesy and emotionally attractive adventure that attracts all nerds and strangers among us, which is everything that really needs to be, sincerely.

But how about what is coming later? “Elio” no necessarily Place the bases for a sequel, although one could easily imagine how it could happen in the future. Elio (with the voice of Yonas Kibreab) ends the film by making a heartbreaking decision but remarkably mature: although he is finally welcome with open arms to the statement, a cosmic meeting of all the best minds and leaders of the galaxy, Elio chooses to return home with his aunt Olga (Zoe Saldaña) to the earth. That not only implies putting aside his dreams of acceptance of crashed eyes among the aliens he has sought for so long, but also means that he will no longer see his best friend, the alien gloron similar to a lategrade (Remy Edgerly). Like its clear inspiration “and the alien”, the ingredients are there for a show of hydraulic works unlike everything we have experienced since the tastes of “UP” or “Inside out” … but that is not the conclusion of history.

Those who stay for the final credits are also in a welcome surprise, one that provides a pleasant and emotional button to a friendship that the public will have invested extremely.

Pixar films have never moved away from the complete spectrum of emotions we experience in life, and “Elio” is no exception. The film begins in an incredibly melancholic note, highlighting the loneliness abject of his main character while the recent loss of his two parents is silent. Tia Olga does everything possible to take care of her fussy nephew, but she is also human. When Elio listens to venting his frustrations to a friend and decides that he does not really want to take care of him, he puts his sights in space and basically makes his way through being kidnapped by aliens. Although some hilarious political negotiations with the fearsome Lord Grigon (Brarett) came out terribly badly, Elio finally helps save the day along with Gordon. But even that is not enough to avoid bifurcation on the path that Elio has been conveniently ignoring for most of the film.

When Elio decides to return to Earth instead of staying in the statement, everyone understands where it comes from and why he chooses to do it … even an crying gloron, who realizes that this can be the last thing he sees of his best friend. It is a boldly bittersweet end of what proves to be an emotionally complex film. But instead of putting things in its end also A great disappointment, the middle credits scene helps to soften the blow. We return to Elio on Earth with another new friend named Bryce (Young Dylan) while building some type of communication equipment on the beach, the same in which Elio was chased by stalkers and kidnapped first. While playing with its long -range radius, we suddenly hear a very familiar voice that crosses static: glord. Even while being separated by innumerable light years, the two friends will not be completely alone. For a film about connection and belonging, well, it is a perfectly succinct way to put an arc on things and return to a complete “Elio” circle.

But wait, there is even more! “Elio” has a surprise more under the sleeve for the end of the credits, rewarding anyone who stays despite not promising any Marvel style mockery. However, in an unexpected movement, the study apparently could not avoid including a more beautiful configuration for the next original pixar: “Hoppers”. What makes this final loan label feel so unusual is that it has absolutely nothing to do with the movie we have just seen. As the credits come to an end in “Elio”, we suddenly listen to a computerized voice that repeats the same word again and again: “Lizard. Lizard. Lizard.” It is soon clear that this is the result of a royal lizard constantly pressing buttons on a phone, entering a lizard emoji without intentions to stop. This continues for another time without any other explanation, until the title card for “Toppers” and all (more or less) appears click on your place.

For those who have been reading /cinema (and that should be all of you, of course), you will be better prepared than most to discover what is happening here. As explained in our recent description of “Toy Story 5” images, “Hoppers” is the next study of the study, focusing on a young environment called Mabel (with the voice of Piper Curda) who desperately tries to save a nearby glade of being destroyed to leave space for a road. To warn the animals of her danger, she uses advanced technology to go covert as a beaver and live among them. However, to communicate with humans while disguising, the film presents a small fun solution: the function of text to voice on cell phones. That is exactly what we see the green lizard at the end of “Elio” and I suppose it is as good as any other to get this movie in everyone’s radar.

“Hoppers” will arrive on the big screen on March 6, 2026, but “Elio” is now playing in theaters everywhere.
