Brazil has fired the Dorival Junior coach after his beating at the hands of Argentina in the 2026 World Cup qualification.

And the Brazilian Soccer Confederation (CBF) confirmed its departure in a brief statement on Friday.
He said: “The Brazilian football confederation announces that the Junior Dorival coach will no longer be in charge of the Brazilian national team.
“The Board thanks the professional and wishes to succeed in his continuous career. From now on, the CBF will work to find a replacement.”

Dorival pays the price for the sad form of Brazil
The defeat against Argentina marked a Nadir in a rotten race for Brazil, one that has seen them win only one of their last five games.
Brazil needed a winner of 99 minutes from Vinicius Junior to defeat Colombia 2-1 in its World Cup qualifier before Argentina’s defeat.
The previous international window in November had seen Brazil held in 1-1 raffles from Venezuela and Uruguay of 10 men.
Brazil has lost five games in the classification for the qualification of the 2026 World Cup, although it is still very likely that they will be progressing to the finals of 48 teams as one of the six automatic qualifiers in South America.
They feel fourth in Conmeboly that qualify in 21 points, 10 points behind Argentina but six ahead of Venezuela, who occupies the place of intercontinental play-off.
Brazil faces Ecuador and Paraguay in the next round of qualifiers in June.
Jorge Jesús the Favorite for the work of Brazil
Reports in Brazil suggest that Jorge Jesus is the favorite to succeed Dorival.
The officer’s Portuguese coach has never trained in international football, although he enjoyed a brief but successful spell in Brazilian football.
Jesus was the coach from June 2019 to July 2020, winning five trophies in that period.
Those honors included the 2019 Copa Libertadores, Flamengo won the greatest prize in South American football for the first time since 1981. Jesus also delivered the first title of the Flamengo Series A since 2009 and won the South American Recopa, Super Cup Do Brazil and Carioca Championship.
Jesus is currently in charge of Al Hilal, whom he led to the glory of the Saudi League last season.
The Real Madrid Chief, Carlo Ancelotti, has also been mentioned as a potential candidate. However, Ancelotti distanced himself from those reports at his press conference on Friday.
“My contract is clear, I have nothing more to add,” said Ancelotti.
“I have great affection for the National Team of Brazil, its players and their fans, but I have a contract with Real Madrid.”
