Leap He has closed the circle. As the co -founder Dino Patti has acquired Jumphip again after selling it in 2022 to Thunderful, which closed Jumship Down in November 2024.
In an interview with Gamesbeat, Patti also said he has made an investment in SAD Owl Studios, the indie viewer manufacturer.
Patti and Chris Olsen founded Jumphip in 2017 to make Somerville. They developed the game and was acquired in November 2022 by Thunderful. The game was launched and Olsen started from the company.
But in November 2024, Thunderful had layoffs and closed Jumphy. Patti said that JumpHip has now reacted, along with the actions of SAD Owl Studios, and is preparing to restart the JUMPHIP in a new and exciting and unexpected direction, actively in the stealthy mode.
This sounds like a crazy event course for a playground, but given the last 30 months of agitation in the games, it is not an unexpected turn of the events. And for now he has a happy result.
“Jumshipip has always tried to overcome the limits of emotions, the narration of stories and innovation in the games,” Patti said. “I want to take the company in a completely new direction as I stay faithful to that vision.”
While maintaining the details for now, Patti, based in Denmark, suggests a broader industry change.
“I still can’t get the veil, but I really think the current editorial panorama has become Rancio,” he said. “It needs a complete review to better serve talented games developers and, most importantly, players.”
He added: “This is more than a simple commercial decision; It is about rekindling the passion and vision that JUMPHIP first caused, while taking it farther than ever. “
Speaking of Sad Owl Studios, Patti shared his enthusiasm.
“Sad Owl Studios is an incredible team with a multi -winning IP IP, a viewfinder, to its credit. I can’t wait to show you what they have been cooking, ”said Patti.
After Thunderful went through his restructuring, Patti was able to recover the property of Somerville, although he was empty since everyone had been fired.
“I have been cooking something, and I came up with a really exciting idea that is based on the central values that kindly in Somerville,” Patti said. “It is extending what we are doing to the entire industry. And without saying too much, I think the way the editors work is now not really useful. “
He said many do not deliver the value paid by developers. It is essentially very expensive, since editors often take 50% of developer’s income in some of the worst offers.
“I think there must be an interruption in the editorial space, and this, without saying too much, could be the way,” he said. “I require Jumphy and Somerville.”
Meanwhile, the viewfinder was built by Matt Stark and Robot Teddy developer. Robot Teddy was acquired by Thunderful in October 2021, and the Teddy robot was renamed Sad Owl Studios. Now Patti has made a minority investment in SAD Owl Studios.
“They are part of the strategy in the future. And it is also only incredible team, and it is a viewfinder, it has done it really well, “Patti said.
Patti is determining how many people can hire, but it is not likely to recover them all. It maintains its purpose deliberately now.
“We will reuse everything,” Patti said. “I will bring at least one person on board and we will see how it advances.”
One of the things he definitely wanted to do was save Somerville, since he feared he forgot. Patti saw him as a very emotional game and reminded him of the titles he had worked before.
“Pure emotion is never going out of style,” he said.
Meanwhile, Patti is still the CEO of Coherence, which allows multiplayer games where thousands of players can participate in the same game. There are considerable customers who use technology such as Vampire Survivor and Bossa Studios, which has three games based on coherence multiplayer networks. Coherence is working with Lego.
“The product we have now is really surprising,” he said. “We work directly with developers to create their games. We make sure they can iterate and try very fast and optimize it. ”
