Dia by The Browser Company is now available on Mac, no invitation needed

The Browser Company’s AI-powered browser is now available to download for all macOS users. Dia began rolling out to private beta testers in June, following its initial revelation at the end of last year, but if you are a Mac user you can download it here if you want to try it. Note that you need a Mac with an M1 or later chip running macOS 14 or later.

AI is being integrated into many web browsers right now, but with Dia it’s at the center of everything you do. It allows you to interact with The Browser Company chatbot within each tab you have open, where you can search the web, compare websites, and answer questions about the content displayed on the page you have open. It also has an online text editor and can summarize the text without the need to copy and paste it into a separate field. It will also happily discourage you from making an expensive purchase, if asked.

The Browser Company previously worked on the popular Arc browser, but shifted its focus entirely to Dia in May, after CEO Josh Miller saying the former “lacked cohesion, both in its central characteristics and its value.” Miller said Arc was “too different” for widespread adoption, but pledged to provide future safety updates for the people on board (many of whom were effusive in his praise).

Atlassian recently acquired The Browser Company in a deal valued at around $610 million, which should be completed by the end of 2025. As part of the deal, the former was allowed to continue operating independently while working at Dia, writing in a blog post posted at the time that the acquisition would help it roll out its new AI browser more aggressively. At the time of writing, there is no information on plans for the release of Windows. But since Arc finally came to Windows, it’s likely to happen sooner or later.
