The Green Bay Packers defeated the Washington commanders 27-18 after green and gold kept Washington to 230 total offensive yards and an average of 3.54 yards per play. This was the least amount of offensive yards that the commanders have had since they wrote the Marshal of Campo Jayden Daniels.
The commanders also had no response to Green Bay’s field marshal, Jordan Love. He completed 19 of 31 passes for 292 yards, two pass and 12 yards by land.
The closed wing Tucker Kraft helped the Packers get the first points of the night. On Green Bay’s second trip, he registered two trapped for 72 yards, which led to a five -yard touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs, his first TD reception of the season. That put the Packers ahead 7-0 to close the first quarter.
These two squads could not have seemed more different during the first 15 minutes of this game. The commanders had two three and exits and were held 12 yards of offensive. At the other extreme, the Packers finished the first with 161 offensive yards, including a 96 yard tauchdown unit.
The Packers Special Teamer and the newly out of Malik Heath made a beautiful capture of 37 yards in the bank to move the offensive to the territory of the commanders once more. A few plays later, the corridor Josh Jacobs found the annotation zone to increase the advantage by 14-0. That TouchDown race also extended the Jacobs franchise record of consecutive games with a ten -year -old TD to ten.
You may have taken a little time, but the commanders finally put some points on the board in the second quarter. Jayden Daniels connected with the Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown containers for 23 yards and picked up five other yards on the ground. That established Washington with a 51-yard field goal to reduce the advantage to 14-3. Daniels ended the night with 200 air yards, two touchdowns and 17 yards by land.
After forcing the Packers to their first clearance of the night, the commanders used a 24 -yard return to establish another field goal attempt. However, the kicking Matt Gay lost the 58 -yard field goal this time, giving Green Bay one more opportunity to put some points before the break with 14 ticks on the clock. But Brandon Mcmanus lost his 48-yard field goal attempt, so the score remained 14-3 in the half time.
The commanders had a great beginning in the third quarter when the new open receiver of the Samuel returned the start of 50 yards to the 44 yards line of Green Bay. After arriving until 24, Jayden Daniels took a sack of 10 yards badly timed in third Down, which forced another attempted field goal that Matt Gay was lost. McManus and Gay were three for six in field goal attempts in this game.
Starting with the ball in its own 42 -yard line, the other wing of Green Bay, Luke Musgrave, put into account the commanders making two catches for 32 yards. Then, Tucker Kraft had a 19-yard capture and race that converted a 1st and 25 in a second and 6. However, the trip stopped in the four-yard line of Washington, so Green Bay reached a 22-yard field goal to move forward 17-3.
In a 4th and 7 in the 37 of Green Bay, the corner of the Packers, Nate Hobbs, was called to a defense that kept alive an impulse that would have finished and allowed Green Bay to enter the last quarter with football in 14 points. Instead, the commanders scored their first touchdown of the night some plays later in a 20-yard pass to the closed wing Zach Ertz to put 17-10 with just under 14 minutes to go in the game.
Tucker Kraft had a night that defined his career. He recorded six trapped for a 124 -yard race. He also caught a eight yard touchdown pass to put Green Bay ahead 24-10 with 8:57 remaining in the last quarter. The 124 Kraft yards were the largest for a closed wing of the Packers since 2015.
Below for 14 years and over time diminishing, the commanders again had to do it in the fourth attempt, this time on their own side of the field. However, unlike the last attempt of the fourth attempt, the Packers had this well defended and forced a turnover in the bass, which finally allowed Green Bay kicking a 56-yard field goal to improve the score at 27-10. After converting 87% of its fourth attempts last season, Washington is only one for three to start the 2025-26 campaign.
As expected, the commanders would not fall without fighting. Jayden Daniels found Debo Samuel for a ten -yard touchdown reception. In the next play, he connected with Luke McCaffrey for a successful two-point conversion to be 27-18, which would be the final score.
The Packers will have their first road game of the season on September 21, when they play the Cleveland Browns. Meanwhile, the commanders will be at home to organize the Las Vegas Raiders in week three.
