Crystal Palace and Arsenal meet for the second time in three days when they meet at Selhurst Park on Saturday, this time in the Premier League.
The two teams met in the round of 16 of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, with Arsenal the hosts on that occasion as they progressed to the semi-finals. Gabriel Jesus’ hat-trick defeated the Eagles despite a late comeback sparked by Eddie Nketiah’s goal against his former employers.
Arsenal will love their chances of achieving back-to-back wins over their south London foes, but their recent form in the Premier League has been far from ideal. Tame draws with Fulham and Everton have seen them lose ground to Chelsea and Liverpool, and the win against the Eagles was not enough to usurp either in the table.
By contrast, Palace’s recent form in the league has been hugely impressive. They have regained some form after a disappointing start to the season and followed up their respectable draw against defending champions Manchester City with an excellent A23 derby win over Brighton & Hove Albion away.

Arsenal have four injuries to their senior squad and all of them are in the full-back department. Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu are absent on the right side of the defense, while Oleksandr Zinchenko and Riccardo Calafiori are unavailable on the left side.
Declan Rice was excluded from the Arsenal squad on Wednesday due to a minor injury, but the midfielder should be available on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta made radical changes to his starting line-up against Palace in midweek, but will return to his preferred XI on Saturday. Martin Odegaard, William Saliba, Gabriel and Rice, fitness permitting, should return to the team.
Jesus scored a clinical hat-trick to decide Wednesday’s match, but may return to the bench with Kai Havertz the favourite.

Wednesday’s match between the two teams was loaded with goals, but both coaches will be concerned about their teams’ opening at the Emirates, and steps are likely to be taken to make Saturday’s match a closer and more tactical battle.
It could be a match of comparatively fine margins, in which Arsenal could thrive once again. The Gunners have been far from their offensive best in recent games, but they have superior quality in the final third, as well as a constant threat from set pieces.
