Confirmed line-ups for the Carabao Cup quarter-finals


Premier League leaders Liverpool visit bottom-placed Southampton in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals.

Arne Slot’s Reds are one of the favorites for the title and the Champions League, but they are eager to claim all the trophies as they look to take another step towards their first trophy on offer.

The coachless Saints are playing their first game since firing coach Russell Martin, with interim Simon Rusk in charge for the first time.

The Saints make three changes from the team that lost 5-0 at home to Tottenham on Sunday.

James Bree comes in at right back, with Nathan Wood also joining the back four while Kyle Walker-Peters and Jan Bednarek rest.

Cameron Archer gets the nod up front.

There is no Virgil van Dijk or Mohamed Salah for Liverpool as Slot makes eight changes to the XI that drew 2-2 with Fulham on Saturday.

Harvey Elliott will make his first start of the season after returning from injury, and Alexis Mac Allister will return from suspension.

Darwin Nunez starts up front, 17-year-old Trey Nyoni got a chance and Wataru Endo was named on defense. Trent Alexander-Arnolf looks set to start at left back.
