Carrera vs Family: Bengaluru couple divided by ₹ 1 million rupees and moving to Gurgaon

A recently Bengaluru woman recently resorted to social networks to obtain advice after her family faced a difficult choice: should she give up her business and return to Bengaluru, or her husband should take a salary cut to live together in Gurgaon? The couple, married for six years, has been living separately due to their careers. Initially, her combined income was about ₹ 5 Lakh per month, but her husband’s profits have increased more than ₹ 1 crore annually.

His long distance agreement became even more challenging after he left his job to start a business and had a baby in 2024. Frequent trips became more difficult, which led them to consider relocating Gurgaon. However, despite the months of job requests and networks, her husband struggled to find a role that coincided with her current salary. Now, he is weighing if he returns to Bengaluru or if he must accept a lower payment work to gather his family.

Publishing in Reddit, the woman shared her situation: “In 2024 we had a baby, and traveling with a child has been a fight for me since then. Now that we have been remote for months, we have finally decided to move to Gurgaon, since that is the closest place in which we can both establish. The husband has requested many companies and consultants, but all we have heard is that there are no large high jobs in Gurgaon. We both live and feel immensely guilty of keeping our baby away from one of the parents. Should I leave my career and return to Bangalore, or my husband should take a salary cut and move to Gurgaon?

The answers arrived, and many pointed out the hard labor market, especially for the roles superior to the high payments. Some advised not to receive a financial blow for the sake of the location, emphasizing that the Bengaluru technology industry offers better opportunities that Gurgaon.

A user wrote: “If you are doing 20-30 LPA, 100+ LPA husband, there is no doubt about it. I hope you have not resigned. Forget about Gurgaon, even in Bengaluru, getting ₹ 1 crore per year is a big problem today. So, if you can establish a race in Bengaluru or you can travel every month for a week and keep a manager to supervise the operations of their business, it is over. ”

Others reacted with disbelief in the dilemma. “Who are these people pulling ₹ 1 crore because they are doing Delhi vs Bangalore? I want such problems in life, ”wrote a commentator.

Another pointed out the financial risks to relocate: “Her husband is winning ₹ 1 crore more, and at the time today, that is huge. Her husband will never get that package in Gurgaon. He is honestly even asking that question. ”

Another pointed out that Gurgaon’s poor air quality could make Bengaluru a better option for the well -being of his children.
