The Cabin of Air Canada’s cabin left the work early Saturday, based on hundreds of flights and extended to thousands of passengers forced to look for alternatives or stay.
The strike, which began just after the 1 AM EDT, forced the largest airline in Canada to suspend most of its 700 daily flights, affecting some 130,000 travelers, the airline said.
It is not clear how many American passengers are affected. Air Canada operates around 430 flights to the United States daily, more than 1,000 total flights, according to Trip and world of the tour.

Air Canada’s unionized employees formed picket lines outside the main Canadian airports while fighting for a better pay and conditions.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees, which represents more than 10,000 hostesses, said that its members are currently paid only when the plane is moving back to the arrival and that they do not receive any payment for the time dedicated to passengers, helping them to run out or waiting on the ground between flights.
The union is demanding complete compensation for this time of unpaid land.
Wesley Lesosky, president of Air Canada de Cpe component, said at a press conference in Toronto that, until Saturday morning, there were no negotiation sessions scheduled between the two parties, which have had negotiations inside and outside for months.

Air Canada said that its package increases general compensation by 38% for four years, while the union emphasizes that the company only offers 50% payment for land tasks such as boarding school and displacement, not full -hour salaries.
The company said its offer would cause Air Canada flight attendees to be the best compensated in Canada. The cabin team already wins up to $ 17 more per hour than its counterparts in the largest national competitor of the company, he said.
Air Canada said that rates per hour would increase up to 94 Canadian dollars ($ 69 USA) in the first year, reflecting an increase of 12% to 16% that includes an 8% increase to base wages and another 4% to 8% through a new land payment formula. By 2027, he said that the largest hostesses would earn an average of 87,000 Canadian dollars ($ 63,000 in the United States) per year, with approximately 20% earning $ 90,000 Canadian dollars ($ 65,700 e. UU.) Or more. Air Canada said on Saturday that “remains committed and committed to negotiating a renewal to its collective agreement with CUPE.”
“Air Canada deeply regrets the effect that the strike has,” said the company in a statement.
The airline advises affected customers not to go to the airport unless they have a confirmed ticket on an airline that is not Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge.

“Air Canada will notify customers an imminent trip of additional canceled flights and their options,” said the company. “For those customers due to traveling soon, whose flights have not yet been canceled, Air Canada has established a goodwill policy to allow them to reserve their trip or get a loan for future trips.”
Air Canada has asked the liberal minority government of Prime Minister Mark Carney to act, but the union says he wants a negotiated solution, since binding arbitration would remove the pressure from the airline.
Air Canada flies more than 180 airports in Canada, the United States and internationally on six continents, the company said.
