The Cleveland Browns will deal with their long list of field marshal injuries by making Tyler Huntley his sixth player in the position, according to a report.
The 2022 Pro Bowl Huntley team will provide competition for Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson, a AP The source said in condition of anonymity.
The Browns are in Charlotte, North Carolina, this week to participate in joint training with the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday and a preseason game on Friday.
Pickett and Gabriel performed individual drills on Monday when the couple treated with articles in the hamstrings, while Sanders reported a shoulder pain and Watson is expected to lose the season due to Achilles injuries.
“No, I didn’t,” said chief coach Kevin Stefanski when asked if such succession of injuries had been “on his bingo card.”
“Every day you learn something new. Everyone is working hard, but it’s part of that. All these types, what I appreciate, are pressing to do their best.”
Huntley was 2-3 for Miami last season, completing 86 of 133 passes (64.7%) for 829 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions (through USA today).
The 27-year-old had 26 haunts for 135 yards and two touchdowns and helped his team beat the Browns 20-3 in Huntington Bank Field during week 17, replacing Tua Tagovaila.
Between 2020 and 2023, Huntley was a backup of Lamar Jackson in Baltimore, doing the Pro Bowl after going to 2-2 as a starter.
He has 25 appearances in his career and 14 openings, with a 5-9 record.
Stefanski played the problem of Sanders, 23, as “only pain.” “We look at his process, making sure his arm is ready,” Stefanski added. “But it’s nothing more than that.
“The injuries are part of this game. They are frustrating from the point of view of losing a boy for a good time.
“That is difficult for players, but dealing with injuries and adjusting due to injuries is part of the game.”
The Browns face the Panthers on Friday (19:00 ET / 16:00 PT) before their preseason schedule proceeds to an encounter with the Eagles Philadelphia in Lincoln Financial Field on August 16 (13:00 ET / 10:00 PT).
Then they receive Los Angeles Rams in their last warming game on August 23 and are at the Cincinnati Bengals house in their first NFL game (13:00 ET / 10:00 PT).
Flacco is ongoing to start that game, with PICKETT in second place in the depth table of the Browns, the rookie Gabriel third and Sanders Cuarto.
