Below deck‘s Captain Jason Chambers is opening up about a recent health problem.

In a video shared via instagram On Monday, December 16, the reality star revealed that a recent biopsy she had confirmed it was melanoma, a type of skin cancer.

“I’m in Australia and that was done in Bali,” captain Jason, 52, explained in the video. “The Australian doctors here were not happy with what the indications were telling them to go to stage 2, which would be to cut out a larger section and examine the glands. “So I’m waiting for the specimen to arrive from Bali, so it will be here this week, but I may not receive it until after Christmas.”

The Australian star encouraged his compatriots to be very careful as the weather gets hotter in the coming months.

There’s a heat wave coming up this summer, so be sure to wear a hat,” she said, noting that she never used to wear sunscreen but has now found chemical-free products. “Make sure you put on some sunscreen, get some shade and cover up.”

“With a melanoma biopsy diagnosed, I now have an anxious wait and what I thought was a spot on my skin turned into just 6 months, early detection is the key,” she continued.

The post concluded: “So find a chemical-free sunscreen product, get some shade with a hat, and enjoy the sun with protection.”
