Batman: The animated series It is the best iteration of the character in any medium, be it comics, movies, television, radio, whatever. This series is an indelible and persistent entrance in the history of the crusader with cape. In the course of his 85 episodes, he consolidated a version of Batman and his world that has the test of time. There are many good and absolute episodes of Batman: The animated seriesBut one that stands out and above the pack must be “his soul of silicon”, a story that came out of one two previous parts that gave Batman: The animated series A science fiction story unlike anything else in the series.
The story of “His Soul Soul” actually begins in the two -part episode “Heart of Steel”. An evil artificial intelligence called Hardac (Holographic Analytical Reciprocating Digital Android Computer) begins to create androids called double duplicating, a nod to replicators of Blade Corredor – In an effort to replace human beings. Naturally, Batman defeats Hardac and his army of duplicants to save the day.
However, you will notice that Hardac looks strangely to the silhouette of Batman’s hood. That was intentional as the original script for “Heart of Steel: Part II” ended with a Batman duplicant that appeared as Hardac’s final tool. The original use of Batman’s double was essentially just to have a fighting scene. When producers of Batman: The animated series They saw this in the script, immediately acknowledged that a Robot Batman was an episode alone. Thus “his soul of silicon” was born.
“His soul of silicon” opens with thieves who break in a warehouse when Batman leaves a box. After fighting thieves, it is injured and it is revealed that it has robotic entrails! Believing that it is the true Bruce Wayne, Batman returns home and asks Alfred for help. It is here where Alfred reveals the idea of duplicating the Batman robot and begins to investigate his creation and purpose. Once the real Batman finds out about this, the persecution is underway when the Robot Batman activates his true programming and resurrects the plan to replace humans with doubles.
However, during a fight in a greenhouse between the two batmen, the robot saves an innocent man when the greenhouse begins to collapse. It is here that we begin to understand that this Batman duplicate is more human than we could believe. During the final climate confrontation, it is believed that the true Batman is dead at the hands of Duplicant Batman. And this is where “his soul of silicon” wins his reputation. Although Hardac has essentially scheduled it to destroy humanity, AI made a copy too good in Batman. This artificial being believes so much in the holiness of life that destroys itself to save the people of the city of Gotham.
It is a powerful idea that science fiction often fights: What is humanity? What really makes us human? Seeing a show that apparently aimed at children to enter such a powerful and difficult issue impressed me when I still had a single digit age. To this day, the final moments of the Batman duplicate surpassed because of the belief that life has been removed. “His silicon soul” is one of the best moments of voice actor Kevin Conroy in an overflowing race of them.
The idea that Batman: The animated series He was willing to make an episode as “His Silicon Soul” shows the incredible depth and variety of stories that Show could tell in the framework of Batman Adventures. Obtaining a legitimate science fiction tragedy amid the stories of classic crimes is a real pleasure.
