Ange Postecoglou has recognized that Tottenham, affected by injuries, “will play with fire” if he fails to make more signings during the last 10 days of the January transfers window.
The Spurs did not have 14 players for the very necessary 3-2 victory over Hoffenheim in the Europa League due to a combination of injuries and eligibility.
That number will be reduced slightly for Sunday’s visit to Leicester, but Tottenham will run out of Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, Wilson Odobert, Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke in the predictable future, while Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven will seek Returns for the second leg of the Capao Cup semifinal against Liverpool on February 6, live Sports of heaven.
Posttecoglou has fought with a limited team during the last two months and has been able to keep the Spurs in the contest for a successful trophy in three cup competitions, but the club has fallen to the 15th place in the Premier League.
Since Yves Bissouma, Johnson and Solanke were the last injured last week, the 59 -year -old admitted that reinforcements are necessary, although he stressed that technical director Johan Lang is aware of the situation, since goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky is the only Arrival this month.
When asked if there was money to spend, Postecoglou replied: “I do not ask those questions. It is not something that is involved, it is not something that is exposed.”
“My conversations with Johan and the club have been about trying to get help for the players and let them do their job.
“I still have to manage this team and prepare it. Last night we returned at 2 in the morning. I am not trying to find opportunities for the club, that is not my role right now. There is no time.” To do so.
“I have daily communication with Johan in particular and he is doing everything possible to get the help we need.
“I don’t think he is saying anything more than obvious and coming here and saying something else would be false. This group of players needs help, there is no doubt about that.
“We are playing with fire by not bringing anyone, but the other face of the coin is that the club is trying to change that situation.”
The latest of the Sky Sports News reporter, Michael Bridge, speaking in the Transfer Show:
“Spurs want a striker and that is the main objective.
“The Spurs desperately need a striker because Dominic Solanke will be out for some time and Richarlison has just returned.
“There has been talk that the Spurs will enter the race for Ájax Front Brian Brobbey, but I understand that this is not the case.
“They are looking for a striker, but I understand that Brobbey is not so front.”
The Spurs received timely impulse on Wednesday with the news that Vicecapitán Romero had returned to training, but Postecoglou preached patience with the winner of the World Cup.
Postecoglou revealed that the plan for the heading of Romero and Van de Ven is to prepare them for the clash of the Carabao Cup against Liverpool next month, which will be followed three days later a draw of the FA Cup in the Aston Villa.
“Of the long deadlines, they are the only two, Micky and Romero, who have the possibility of that week, but we still have about 12 days or something left,” Postecoglou reflected.
“Part of that process is to see how they face training during the next week. Both are scheduled for that type of time to be available.”
The spurs injury crisis has caused Postecoglou to ask several questions about their methods and the level of intensity implemented in training, but insists that the club is in a better place in general compared to when he assumed the position in the summer of 2023.
And he added: “I think the team we have now is an exciting team and when everyone is fit, I think the club will benefit, not only this year but for many years to come.”
“We have outstanding people who have arrived at the club in all areas, in each facet that I think will contribute to the success of this club in the future. I firmly believe it.
“Now, the only evidence that most people want to see is where we are now in terms of our performance, particularly in the League.
“But from my perspective, like someone who entered a club I wanted and needed a change, I have no doubt that we are in a much better place for what the club needs to succeed.”
