“Andy Cruz is fragile” – Keyshawn Davis

Keyshawn Davis predicted in an interview that his four-time conqueror Andy Cruz will “lose” before he even gets to where he is. Despite losing to 2020 Cuban Olympic gold medalist Cruz (4-0, 20 KOs), he says someone will beat him along the way.

Cruz will fight Omar Salcido (20-1, 14 KOs) tonight in a 10-round WBC lightweight title eliminator on the Diego Pacheco vs. Steven Nelson undercard at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Chelsea Ballroom, Las Vegas .

In the interview with Keyshawn (12-0, 8 KOs), it seemed obvious that wants Cruz to lose; maybe that will take away the pressure he’s dealing with now from fans and the media to fight him.

They want him to fight Cruz to try to avenge at least one of his four losses. However, Keyshawn has repeatedly refused to fight, saying it is beneath him because he has only four fights since turning professional.

The “fragility” of Cruz

“I feel like he’s going to lose before he gets to this level. I really feel like he’s going to lose,” Keyshawn Davis told MillCity Boxing on Andy Cruz, saying that they will defeat him before he gets to where he is.

“I just feel like he’s going to lose before he gets to me, period. They better make it mandatory real quick before shit happens to it.

Davis still sounds bitter about his four losses to Andy Cruz in the amateurs, and now hopes someone beats him so he doesn’t have to worry about continuing his career like he did in the amateurs.

“He is fragile. He doesn’t have respectable pop,” Keyshawn said of Cruz. “If you can’t keep someone away from you, what are you going to do? Are you going to keep dancing and prancing for the full 12 rounds? A three-round fight and a twelve-round fight is a big difference.”

Cruz knocked out Antonio Morán in the seventh round in his last fight on August 3 and looked powerful in that fight. What he showed in that fight is more than enough power to knock out anyone in the division, including Keyshawn. He landed a lot of punches on Moran that broke him and hurt him in the seventh with a jab.

“Ten ounces and eight ounces is a big difference. He mentioned my name and called me his son. That shit is fun to me. I know what’s going on with your team. This needs help. He needs better equipment. I just don’t think he has any respectable power.

“Average Average”

“You are very crazy if you think that is going to work against a fighter like me. I feel like he was a phenomenal amateur, but he will be an average professional. He has just been injured by his last opponent (Antonio Morán). Wasn’t that the opponent Devin Haney knocked out (six years ago, May 25, 2019, in the seventh round? The same round Cruz knocked out Moran).

“If you get hurt in your developmental stage, what do you think I’m going to do to you?” Davis said. Have you ever seen me hurt or knocked down?

Nahir Albright staggered Keyshawn in their fight on October 14, 2023. That was a developmental fight and Davis was injured. After the fight, he started talking nonsense about going to buy a house because his win was overturned due to his positive test for a banned substance.

“All he can do is keep saying my name to keep it relevant,” Keyshawn said of Cruz. “I saw Andy Cruz’s professional debut (against Juan Carlos Burgos on July 15, 2023). After that, I never saw a full Andy Cruz fight except his debut.

“Keep building your name off of mine. Keep making commenters mention my name. Hopefully, one day you can contact me,” Davis said, with a smile that seems fake on his face. “I will knock him out. My mission is to become world champion and unify.

“If he doesn’t want to fight me, we’ll try to get the bigger name. I know I will knock out Andy Cruz. He said it in the fans when he was losing to this guy (four times). “When I turn pro, I’ll knock this guy out.” I just don’t have the perfect amateur style that he has. I just don’t do it, but it’s professional.

“He’s not that exciting.”

“That’s how he fights. That’s Andy Cruz,” Keyshawn said when told Cruz moved around a lot in his amateur fights. “He is naturally a counterpuncher. He doesn’t come forward and beat you down.

“That’s why it’s not as exciting because he literally wants to sit back and let others hit him so he can do all those complicated things and fight back and hit you. Actually, that works very well in amateurs. Then he starts introducing himself with some nonsense, but he’s not really an introducing wrestler.

“He really wants to sit back, play with his jab and let someone miss and hit him. That’s really how he fights. I just don’t see it working on me for 12 rounds. I’m going to knock your ass out.

“Lomachenko has one more fight left. He is on the side of Top Rank. Well, I’m going to try to go the Lomachenko route. If you don’t want to fight me. Well, I’m going to try to follow the path of light skin (Gervonta Davis).

Keyshawn has yet to defeat any notable fighters. He has been protected by Top Rank since his close encounter with Nahir Albright when he hurt him. Davis’ best victories are against these fighters:

– Jose Pedraza: 35
– Nahir Albright: Close victory
–Gustavo Lemos
– Miguel Madueno
-Anthony Yigit
– Francesco Patera
