If you’re traveling today for the holidays, I hope you don’t fly on American Airlines, because it could still be a rough day. This morning, the airline said on X that all of its flights were currently grounded, but the Federal Aviation Administration has since lifted the strikewhich was originally issued at the request of the airline. Even though things are returning to normal, these disruptions are likely to have a ripple effect that makes a busy travel day even more difficult.
As The edge noted, a notice published by the Federal Aviation Administration confirms that there is a “domestic shutdown” for all AA flights; It also says that this stoppage is at the “request of the company.”
Aside from the FAA notice and American Airlines posting on X, no real reason was given for the delay. But since the immobilization was lifted, cnn informs that An American Airlines spokesperson said the outage was due to a “supplier technology issue” that has now “been resolved and flights have resumed.”
Update, 9:15 a.m. ET: This story has been updated to note that the ground strike has been resolved.
