Allrounder Shardul Thakur showed his brilliant skills with the bat once again and rescued Mumbai from big trouble during their Ranji Trophy game against Jammu and Kashmir at BKC. Thakur’s knock came at a time when his team was in big trouble.
Thakur came in to bat when Mumbai were in big trouble at 91-6 at the fall of Ajinkya Rahane’s wicket. With only five runs left at the time, he had a big task ahead of him. But he didn’t flinch despite the huge pressure and put the opposition bowlers under the gun.
He was aggressive against both spinners and fast bowlers who put the Jammu & Kashmir bowlers on the back foot. He completed a whirlwind of just 105 balls. Social media was abuzz after Thakur’s brilliance with the bat and hailed him as a man for tough situations.

A Hit to Remember by Shardul Thakur
It was a knock to remember from the all-rounder who showed his gritty attitude of digging Mumbai out of a hole. Shardul Thakur suffered cramps several times during his knock but continued to fight.
With Mumbai’s other star batsmen like Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube struggling in this match, Thakur gave a glimpse of his own talent and showed how he should play on such a pitch.
He formed a great partnership with off-spinner Tanish Kotian, who gave him good company with a brilliant fifty. The two have put together a partnership of over 150 runs and taken Mumbai’s lead towards the 200-run mark.
Shardul Thakur’s last Test match
Shardul Thakur last played a Test match during India’s tour of South Africa in November 2023. Since then, he has been out of the team due to fitness and form issues. The Allrounder didn’t even find a team in the IPL 2025 auction which was a big shock.
Thakur has played a no. of valuable knocks for India in the order. He has made crucial contributions with Bat and Ball in India’s tours to England, South Africa and Australia. His knock at the Gabba in 2021 helped India win a memorable Test match in Australia.
