Alex Scott wants to ‘replicate’ 2023 lions winners before the quarterfinal clash of Spain

England midfielder U21, Alex Scott, has urged his teammates to “replicate what the boys did two years ago” before the quarter -final crash Euro U21 of the three lions with Spain on Saturday.

The game in Trnava will be a repetition of the 2023 final, which England won 1-0, after the three lions progressed as a runner-up of Group B after a 2-1 defeat against Germany rivals on Wednesday night.

Scott scored his first U21 goal after Lee Carsley’s team had continued 2-0 at the break courtesy of Ansgar Knauff and Nelson Weiper.

But, despite dominating large spells of the party, the headlines of the tournament could not organize a late return and had to settle for second place in the group and a date with a family enemy in the next round.

“We are disappointed with the result,” Scott told Channel 4 after the game. “We do not start well enough and that has cost us at the end.

“Fortunately, we have described secondly, so it is positive and we will seek to go in the quarterfinals now.”

When asked how important his goal was to show an attitude of never realizing, the 21 -year -old Bournemouth player said: “Yes (it was) huge. I think the second half changed completely.

“We changed the form and freed Macca (James Mcatee) as a number 10. We definitely improve and it is something we can build now entering the quarterfinals.”

Despite the progression of the qualifying stages, Carsley’s young lions have been far from clinical in front of the goal in their first three games.

Scott, however, insisted that the objectives would come: “We work in training. The boys mark goals every day. The games are not yet click, but with the quality we have in this team, it is only a matter of time before the goals begin to fly.”

When his thoughts were asked before the last confrontation with the favorites of the Spain competition, Scott was direct in his evaluation.

“It replicates what the boys did two years ago,” he added.

“It will be difficult. Each team in Spain is very good in the ball, very quiet and compound. We will recover from this and we will look towards Spain and separate them.

“Hopefully we can get a good performance.”
