Adult Swim’s Common Side Effects Gets Promising First Trailer

Earlier this year, Netflix went and pulled the plug Scavengers reign, one of the best shows of 2023 that originally aired on Adult Swim. The good news is that the production company of that show, Green Street, has a new series coming out next year called common side effects, and looks as visually impressive as Scavengers did.

Created by Scavengers co-creator Joe Bennett and Veep’s Steve HellyCommon side effects It centers on Marshall (Dave King) and Frances (Emily Pendergast), a pair of former high school lab colleagues who discover a fungus capable of curing almost any disease. That kind of miracle drug would be a surprising discovery in real life, so it’s no surprise when a group of interested parties show up looking to take it away from Marshall, including pharmaceutical corporations hoping to make a lot of money from it. While he runs away to try to distribute it in the free world, Frances wonders if it would be better to sell the mushroom to help her get a promotion.

With the surprise murder last week of the CEO of United Healthcare Brian ThompsonThe show is even more topical than it already was: as Marshall points out in the trailer, people spend so much money on drugs that they barely seem to work (if at all), and corporations make tons of money off everyone’s illnesses. Reign of the scavengers It earned praise for its Moebius-inspired art and atmosphere, and seems to have an equally haunting vibe. It’s not just the sight of little gray creatures watching people die in an explosion of colors, but also the more mundane elements, like how it shows people looking so exhausted and worn out, both inside and outside the hospital.
