The Indian U-19 women’s team achieved a victory in the first-ever women’s Asia Cup. India claimed the title behind Bangladesh by 41 runs in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday. Gongadi Trisha’s winning 52 runs and a stellar bowling effort sealed the victory.
Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bowl first. While batting first, India posted the target of 117/7 in 20 overs. Trisha’s 52 runs off 47 balls leads to a decent target. Mithila Vinod’s 17 for 12 and Aayushi Shukla’s 10 for 13 helped India reach the defensive target. Bangladesh’s Farjana Easmin shone with the ball and took 4/31.
Indian bowlers outclassed Bangladesh. They restricted Bangladesh to just 76 runs in 18.3 overs. Ayushi shukla took 3 wickets, while Sonam Yadav and Parunika Sisodia contributed two wickets each. Despite the resistance of Juairiya Ferdous and Fahmodia Choya, Bangladesh’s efforts were insufficient.
Gangodi Trisha became the player of the match with her vital performance in India’s historic victory.
