Dennis Rodman’s post came hours after Trinity’s comment during her appearance on the December 18 episode of “calls his daddy” podcast. She said of her father: “He’s not a father. Maybe for blood, but nothing more.”
The soccer player went ahead to share details of her relationship with her father, explaining that she and her brother Dennis “DJ” Rodman, whom her father shares with his ex-wife Michelle Moyer, had remained silent about their strained relationship.
However, Trinity said she was now ready to talk about it. And he added: “My brother and I have been very generous with the way we have talked about the subject and very selfless. We never want to make him look bad and that is at the cost of retaining many topics that we have gone through trauma with.”

Trinity emphasized that she had always tried to make it obvious during past interviews that her father was not present and revealed that her relationship with him declined drastically after his and her mother’s divorce in 2012.
She also revealed that Dennis offered financial support to his mother in his early childhood, but stopped doing so after their divorce. The 22-year-old shared that she lived in a car with her mother and brother throughout her childhood, but Moyer did her best to smooth over the difficult situation.
The Washington Spirit forward revealed that her father was partying all the time and would bring random women to his house and they would fight to live with him. He noted that it was frustrating to see Dennis being candid about his fatherhood in interviews.
“I think he wishes he could fight his demons,” she said. AND! News. “I roll my eyes because you hear something so many times, but he doesn’t do anything to change it. Like, ‘I wish I was a better father.’ He said that in a lot of interviews. It’s like, okay, then do something.”

Trinity recalled when Dennis showed up to one of her games — the National Women’s Soccer League semifinals in 2021 — which was awkward for her. “Coming into my rookie year, getting to the quarterfinals, I’m already shitting my pants,” he said. “I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ There’s no way this is happening now. Mind you, I haven’t seen him or talked to him in months.”
Despite being angry about her father’s presence at the game, which ruined her “happy moment”, Trinity warmed to him and they shared an emotional hug. She revealed that Dennis promised to keep in touch with her, but ultimately didn’t and she didn’t hear from him until this year.
Trinity, who helped the USWNT win a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, detailed some of the things that caused her father to distance himself from his family. She said: “As successful as he was and how rich he was, he was surrounded by a lot of toxic people who took his money and took advantage of him. Because he was into alcohol, he was brainwashed and didn’t really have any control over nothing.”
She said her family tried their best to support him, but it didn’t work. Trinity explained, “We tried to be that foundation and be the good people around him because we never really asked for anything unless we really needed it.” She added: “We only want you. He never understood that fact because he never experienced it.”

The disgruntled daughter claimed that her father ruined family problems and never understood that people just wanted to be around him and make him happy. She concluded: “He’s always thinking about money, money, money.”
In addition to Trinity and DJ, Dennis Rodman also has a daughter, Alexis Rodman, who he shares with his first wife, Annie Bakes. He and Bakes married in 1992 after dating for five years, but divorced after 82 days.
