Three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen takes to the Ally Pally stage on Friday night in what should be a blockbuster evening at the world darts championship.
Van Gerwen, winner of the PDC in 2014, 2017 and 2019, has seen his momentum slow in recent years, but the 35-year-old remains ranked third in the world and once again poses a real threat.
He will face James Hurrell in the second round of the final match on day six, a quarterfinalist in 2022.
In the big match of the afternoon, the popular Stephen Bunting will face Kai Gotthardt.
