Zach Gilford is recovering after suffering a health scare earlier this week, with his sense of humor still intact.
“Sooo much fun yesterday,” Gilford, 42, captioned a series of selfies via her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, December 17. “Thank goodness we finished @criminalminds last week.”
In the first two photos shared, Gilford showed his face having what appeared to be a reaction, causing his face to swell and his eyes to close completely.
Meanwhile, the third and final image showed that her face is now improving.
“Thank you to all the nurses, doctors and staff at @huntingtonhospital for getting my face back to normal. …Still a little ways to go,” the third snapshot captioned, shouting out the California-based hospital. He did not reveal any further details.
Gilford has played Elias Voit in the criminal minds rebirth since his debut in 2022, a prolific serial killer who spent years building his own network of killers and aiding them in their crimes. While speaking exclusively with Us weekly In August, Gilford revealed that he was only supposed to appear in the first season before he was asked to stay.
“I only signed a one-year contract,” he explained. “And halfway through the first season, (showrunner) Erica (Messer) He told me: ‘I don’t know what’s going to happen.’ We haven’t figured out the end of the season, but we’ve decided we won’t kill you off. We want to keep you close. “So I came back and I was very happy to (do it).”
The character remained a mainstay in Season 2 and will return for Season 3, which wrapped filming earlier this month. In addition to giving Gilford a juicy role in front of the camera, it has also given the actor a major milestone in his career: his first time in the director’s chair.
“I have always wanted to direct. I followed Friday night lights. I’ve followed almost every show I’ve been on,” Gilford gushed. “It’s just hard to have that opportunity. I’ve wanted to do it for a long time. And it was inspiring to me when I got to direct my episode because Erica and everyone said, ‘Do your episode.’ Do what you want.’”
“It was fucking incredible,” he added. “It was a lot of fun.”
Gilford began playing Matt Saracen in FNL in the early 2000s before moving on to leading roles in Good girls, midnight mass and more. He met his wife, Kiele Sanchezon the set of his 2010 television pilot. The killersand the couple married two years later. They have worked together several times since then, including in Evolution.
While speaking with Us, Gilford acknowledged how “lucky” he has been to be part of the criminal minds franchise.
“I don’t know how I got so lucky. I’ve been very lucky in my career, but it’s been great,” Gilford shared of his experience on the CBS procedural. “Everyone who comes to that set says, ‘This is the best set I’ve ever been on,'” he said. Us. “It’s so fun to work with your friends and they really are the best group of people. So that aside, our team is fucking amazing. They are so cool, so brilliant, so funny, so calm and so good at their jobs. I appreciate being on a set (where) this is the vibe. “It all comes from the showrunner, Erica Messer.”
