Series A

Inter Milan moved to the top of Serie A on goal difference after a 1-0 victory over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

Ange-Yoan Bonny scored in the sixth minute and it proved to be enough for last season’s defeated Champions League finalists to hold on to take the three points and replace Napoli at the top of the table.

The opportunity presented itself to Inter after Napoli suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Torino earlier in the day.

Giovanni Simeone, son of Atlético Madrid coach Diego, scored the only goal of the game just after the half hour mark to condemn the champions to their second league defeat this season.

Elsewhere in the Italian top flight, there were goalless draws in both Lecce’s game against Sassuolo and Pisa’s clash against Verona.

League 1

In Ligue 1, Marseille made the most of Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-3 slip against Strasbourg on Friday to move one point clear at the top of Ligue 1.

Mason Greenwood scored four goals as Roberto De Zerbi’s side thrashed 10-man Le Havre 6-2 in a thrilling encounter on Saturday night.

Yassine Kechta gave Le Harve the lead after 24 minutes, but defender Gautier Lloris, brother of former Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo, received a straight red card for handball in the area 10 minutes later.

It turned out to be expensive. Greenwood dispatched the penalty before adding three more goals in the second half.

Robinio Vaz scored Marseille’s fifth goal with just a few minutes remaining, before Abdoulaye Touré scored the winner in added time.

But it was not the last action, as Michael Murillo scored a sixth for Marseille in the final seconds.

Lyon squandered their chance to get ahead of the champions by losing 3-2 to Nice.

Pavel Sulc scored twice for Lyon but it wasn’t enough as goals from Melvin Bard, Sofiane Diop and Hicham Boudaoui ensured the hosts took all three points.

In the other match, Monaco drew 1-1 against Angers. Folarin Balogun found the net for Monaco before Sidiki Cherif equalized for the home side with five minutes remaining.

LaLiga

While Barcelona unseated Real Madrid at the top of LaLiga for at least 24 hours, Atlético Madrid also gained ground on their city rivals with a 1-0 victory over Osasuna.

Thiago Almada’s goal in the 69th minute made the difference and Simeone’s team moved to fourth place.

Meanwhile, Villarreal and Real Betis, two teams with aspirations of being in the top four, played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Estadi de la Cerámica.

The Yellow Submarine built a two-goal lead through Tajon Buchanan and Alberto Moleiro, but Antony – a rejuvenated figure since leaving Manchester United – scored twice, including the equalizer in the 94th minute.

The result keeps Villarreal in third place, but means that Betis drops to fifth place thanks to Atlético’s victory.

Elsewhere in Spain, Mallorca recorded an impressive 3-1 victory over Sevilla.

Ruben Vargas opened the scoring for Sevilla, but a brave second-half performance from Mallorca resulted in goals from Vedat Muriqi and an unanswered double from Mateo Joseph to secure an important victory for the LaLiga strugglers.

Bundesliga

In the Bundesliga, in addition to leaders Bayern achieving an 11th consecutive victory in all competitions, victories for RB Leipzig and Stuttgart saw them leapfrog Dortmund in the table.

Leipzig moved into second place after beating Hamburg 2-1 thanks to goals from Christoph Baumgartner either side of half-time to leave Ole Werner’s side unbeaten in six games.

Former Arsenal player Albert Sambi Lokonga scored for Hamburg.

Stuttgart, meanwhile, fared much more comfortably in the clash against Wolfsburg, winning convincingly 3-0 at the Volkswagen Arena.

Tiago Tomas, Max Mittelstadt and Angelo Stiller scored for the visitors, who move into third place.

There was also victory for Leverkusen, who emerged victorious in a seven-goal thriller against Mainz.

Kasper Hjulmand’s men took a two-goal lead thanks to an Alejandro Grimaldo penalty and a Christian Kofane goal, but Lee Jae-Sung halved the deficit 10 minutes later.

Grimaldo doubled his tally in first-half stoppage time before Mainz responded again thanks to a Nadiem Amiri penalty after 71 minutes.

Martin Terrier then added Leverkusen’s fourth late on, but again Mainz reduced the lead to one with a goal from Armindo Sieb in the 90th minute, setting up a nervy final few minutes.

In the other two games, Cologne and Augsburg drew 1-1, while Heidenheim and Werder drew 2-2.
