The president of the United States, Donald Trump, and Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, say they have agreed a new peace plan for Gaza, warning Hamas to accept it.
The plan proposes an immediate ending of military operations, with Hamas releasing 20 live Israeli hostages and the remains of the more than two dozen hostages that are believed to be dead within 72 hours, in exchange for hundreds of fightened guys.
A Palestinian source familiar with Alto Fire negotiations told the BBC that Hamas officials received the proposal of 20 points from the White House.
It requires that Hamas does not have any role in the Gaza government and leave the door open for an eventual Palestinian state.
Speaking at a press conference after the conversations at the White House, Trump described the “A Historic Day for Peace” plan.
But he said that Netanyahu will support us to “finish the work of destroying the threat of Hamas” if Hamas does not agree with the plan.
Netanyahu said that Israel “will end the work” if Hamas rejects the plan or does not follow.
The Palestinian authority, which governs the West Bank occupied by Israelis, has described the efforts of the president of the United States as “sincere and determined.”
In a statement published by its Wafa news agency, the authority said that “renews its joint commitment to work with the United States, regional states and partners” to end the war against Gaza, guarantee sufficient delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and the liberation of hostages and prisoners.
In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia and Pakistan said they welcomed Trump’s “leadership and her sincere efforts to end the war in Gaza.”
They said they were ready to commit to the US. To end and implement the agreement, which they said should lead to a “state solution of two, under which Gaza is fully integrated with the West Bank in a Palestinian state.”
The proposal, if followed, would begin with the immediate cessation of military operations. It also says that the existing “battle lines would be frozen in place until the conditions for a staged withdrawal are met.
According to Trump’s plan, Hamas would leave his arms and tunnels and weapons production facilities would be destroyed.
For each Israeli hostage whose remains are released, Israel will release the remains of 15 dead gazans, says the plan.
The Plan also stipulates that once both parties accept the proposal “Complete help will be sent immediately to the Gaza Strip.”
The United States also describes its plan for the future Gaza governance.
He says that a “technocratic and apolitical Palestinian committee” will temporarily govern “with supervision and supervision of a new international transition body, called Board of Peace, which will be headed” by Trump.
The former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Tony Blair, will be part of the government body along with other leaders “that will be announced.” Sir Tony called the “bold and intelligent” plan.
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Keir Starmer, welcomed the plan, saying: “We call for all parties so that they meet and work with the administration of the United States to end this agreement and make it happen.
“Hamas should now agree with the plan and finish misery, placing his arms and releasing all the remaining hostages,” added Sir Keir.
The president of the European Council, Antonio Costa, said he was “encouraged by the positive response of Prime Minister Netanyahu” to the proposal. He added that “all parties must take advantage of this moment to give peace a genuine opportunity.”
The French president, Emmanuel Macron, praised the proposal and said: “France is ready to contribute” to the efforts to end the war and release hostages.
“These elements must pave the way for in -depth discussions with all relevant partners to build a lasting peace in the region, based on the solution of two states,” Macron said.
The plan adds that Hamas should not have any governance role, “directly, indirectly or in any way.”
Much of the plan focuses on what the United States calls an “economic development plan” to rebuild Gaza. It also says “Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza” and its forces will withdraw from the territory in stages over time.
In a Trump’s change previous statementsThe Palestinians will not be forced to leave Gaza. Instead, the document said: “We will encourage people to stay and offer them the opportunity to build a better gaza.”
The plan also leaves the door open to an eventual Palestinian state.
A Palestinian source familiar with Alto Fire negotiations told the BBC “Qatar and Egyptian officials have delivered the White House Plan to end the war in Gaza to Hamas officials in Doha.”
Previously, a senior Hamas official told the BBC that the group remained open to studying any proposal that could end the war in Gaza, but emphasized that any agreement must safeguard the Palestinian interests, guarantee a complete Israeli withdrawal of Gaza and end the war.
When asked about the weapons of the group, the official said: “The weapons of the resistance are a red line while the occupation continues.
“The issue of weapons can only be discussed within the framework of a political solution that guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state at the borders of 1967”.
The announcement of the plan occurs only a few days after Netanyahu attacked the recognition of a Palestinian State by multiple Western countries during a combative speech in the UN General Assembly.
Netanyahu labeled recognition moves a “brand of shame” that sent the message that “killing the Jews is worth it.”
Dozens of officials and diplomats organized greetings while heading to the UN podium, leaving large parts of the empty conferences room.
While Trump has firmly backed Netanyahu since he returned to the White House for a second term, has been frustrated more and more with Israel’s movements in recent weeks.
Trump said Discomfort in Israel’s recent strike against Hamas members in Key Us Qatar’s ally.
Before Monday’s press conference, Netanyahu called Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Bin Jassim Al-Thani de Qatar from the White House to express his deep regret that Israel’s missile strike involuntarily killed a Qatar military.
The Israeli army launched a campaign in Gaza in response to the attack led by Hamas against southern Israel on October 7, 2023, in which some 1,200 people were killed and another 251 were taken as hostages.
At least 66,055 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since then, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health of the territory.
An agency not recently backed confirmed that the famine was taking place in the city of Gaza. Earlier this month, a UN Research Commission concluded that Israel had committed genocide in Gaza, which Israel strongly rejects.
