Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta says that the belief is running in the team while the club prepares for a new Premier League campaign.
The Spanish has issued a meeting call to the followers, urging them to help make Emirates Stadium a strength this season, since they point to some short shortages after almost seven years of almost moments.
Returning from their preseason tour of Singapore and Hong Kong, which ended in 1-0 defeat against Tottenham, the Gunners are now back in their homeland.
They will face Villarreal and Athletic Club in a couple of friendlies before starting their league season with a hard accessory against Manchester United.
Arteta optimism is backed by a busy summer transfer window. The Arsenal has added several key names to its list, including forward Viktor Gyokeres, midfielders Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard, the center of the Christian Mosquera, the Noni Madueke end and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga de Chelsea.
When writing in his program notes before Wednesday’s friendly against Villarreal, Arteta expressed his confidence in the improved depth of the squad.
“All these newcomers add quality and depth to the team, which is what we will need throughout the season.
“We know what our goals are and what we want to achieve this season: there is a great belief in our ability to achieve it.
“We have been very, very close in the last seasons and the whole team will determine whether we succeed or not.
“But at the same time, we have to make sure we don’t lose sight of what we have to do daily to reach the levels we want.
“We have to establish the demands that we want within this objective, because that is the most important thing: internal demands must always exceed any external demand. That is what we are trying to achieve every day.”
Arsenal has ended as a runner -up of the Premier League in each of the last three seasons.
With expectations increasing, Arteta emphasized that success will require more than performances in the field: it will take the full support of the fan base.
“We have to do that all together, with you, our followers too.
“That is another reason why these two games at home are so important. Let’s demonstrate that energy from the first moment.
“We want our people to begin to connect with our players immediately, begin to generate impulse and begin to feel that at home we are invincible, that we play here with such passion, energy and connection with our people, that we are going to win the game.”
