Spain deserved more, says Take after the penalty of anguish

The coach of Spain, Montse Take, felt that his team deserved more after the Red suffered an agonizing defeat by penalties against England in the final of the Eurocup 2025.

The world champions, who beat England in the 2023 World Cup final, were the favorites to dethrone the Lions and claim the European title.

And they seemed prepared to do exactly that when Mariona Caldentey put Spain ahead with a header of 25 minutes.

But Alessia Russo was leveled for England in the 57th minute, and Sarina Wiegman’s team remained firm in extra time, despite the fact that the additional half hour is dominated by Spain.

Spain was made to pay not to make this superiority count, with Caldentey, Aitana Bonmati and Salama Parallolo, unable to convert from 12 yards, the lady of the latter allowed Chloe Kelly to ensure glory for England.

“I think this team deserved more. I think we worked hard for a long time to get to this moment, reach this final against a high -level national team as an event and what we saw in the game makes me think that the team deserved it,” he told his press conference after the game.

“That is why today I have the feeling that we almost achieved it, but it has gone. I really value all the work done: we wrote history throughout the tournament and the team was good.”
