Alexander Isak has asked to explore a potential Newcastle move this summer, according to information.
It is understood that the Swedish striker, who did not join the team on his preseason tour of Asia, informed the club’s leadership of his desire to leave St James.
The 25 -year -old reported a thigh problem at the beginning of the week, which the club says that it is the reason for his absence of the trip to Singapore and South Korea.
However, the reports suggest that behind the scene, Newcastle’s hierarchy is fully aware of Isak’s desire to evaluate his options during this transfer window.
With three years remaining in his current agreement, Newcastle remains in a contractually solid position.
The CEO of the club, Darren Eales, had previously declared in March that a new contract for Isak would be a discussion issue once the season concluded. However, for now, the striker and his representatives are retaining any new commitment.
Liverpool has shown a significant interest in the prolific striker, and it is said that he is considering an offer that could make Isak the most expensive player into the history of British football.
A rate in the £ 150 million region could be sufficient to boost movement in an agreement.
Newcastle reluctant to sell
