Aboriginal research finds the genocide committed against indigenous Australians


As indigenous Australians mark Naidoc’s week, a time to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of aboriginal peoples and islanders of the Torres Strait, the country is dealing with the findings of an investigation led by historical aborigines. The commission found that the first peoples in the state of Victoria suffered genocide and crimes against humanity since the beginning of British colonization. “Between the 1830s and 1851, it is estimated that Victoria’s indigenous population was reduced from 60,000 to 15,000,” said historian Romain Fathi to France 24 in perspective.
