Liverpool striker Diogo Jota has been killed in a car accident in Spain.
The Portugal International, who was 28 years old, was in a Lamborghini that left the road in the northwest province of Zamora during the night.
He was traveling with his brother Andre Silva, a 25 -year -old Penafiel player who was also killed.
Zamora News reported that emergency services were called at 1240 am local time after being alerted to an accident on the highway in the direction of Benavente.
The firefighters service extinguished the fire, but the medical crew could not save the two occupants of the car.
A Civil Guard statement, given to the BBC, said: “The information we have so far is that the car, which was a Lamborghini, was in a traffic accident and left the road due to a tire burst while advanced.
“It was in the early hours, 1230, in the municipality of Cernadilla in the province of Zamora.
“The car caught fire and the two occupants were killed.”

A Liverpool statement said: “Liverpool Football Club is devastated by the tragic death of Diogo Jota.
“The club has been informed that the 28 -year -old died after a traffic accident in Spain along with his brother, Andre.
“The Liverpool FC will not comment at this time and request the privacy of the family, friends, teammates and personnel from Andre de Diego and Andre, the club staff is respected while trying to accept an unimaginable loss.
“We will continue to provide our full support.
Jota married two weeks ago with the couple in the long term Cardoso. They have three children.
In a joint publication on Instagram after the ceremony, they wrote: “June 22, 2025. Yes, yes to eternity.”
Liverpool signed Jota de Wolves in 2020 and immediately became a key member of the team, helping the meseysiders to the FA Cup title in 2022. They also finished runner -ups in the EFL Cup and the Champions League that season.
After the departure of Jurgen Klopp and the arrival of Arne Slot as manager, Liverpool won the premiere title last season with Jota contributing to nine goals in 37 appearances.
Jota began in Pacos de Ferreira, where his form earned him a transfer to Atlético de Madrid. He fought to cause an impression in the Spanish capital and was borrowed back to Porto in his homeland, and then to Wolves in 2017.
His move to Molineux became permanent in January 2018, in the middle of a season in which he scored 17 goals in the league to help the wolves ascend to the Premier League.
Internationally, Jota scored 14 goals in 49 appearances, helping the title of the Nations League in 2019 and again last month. Jota left the bank as an extra substitute when Portugal beat Spain with penalties in the final.
