Borussia Dortmund manager Niko Kovac admitted that he was “delighted” after his team progressed to the club’s elimination phase after a 1-0 victory over the Ulsan South Korean club.
Dortmund entered the game knowing that a point would ensure a safe passage until the last 16, and although the Kovac team did hard work against its already feeding opponents, the small possibility of its exit rarely seemed a genuine possibility.
Daniel Svensson obtained the only goal of the game in 36 minutes and could have been more if it were not for a combination of an innovative ending and an inspired performance by Jo Hyeon-Woo in Ulsan’s goal.

The result assured that the German club jumped to Fluminense, who started the day in the pole position, but was arrested for a goalless draw for Mamelodi Soundowns, for the superior group F.
Dortmund will now meet with the runner -up of Group E next week, which could be Inter Milan, River Plate or Monterrey.
“We wanted to go through the group stage, we are delighted,” Kovac said.
“It was decent for heat, especially in the first half. We achieved the game in the second half. The conclusion is that Fluminense and we deserve to progress.”
“We dominate the first half, I think the figure of the XGOALS was in the region of Tres. That is fine for these temperatures. Of course, we have been looking forward for a while and we are prepared.
“We have almost a week, we don’t play until Tuesday, so we’ll play in July and not in June.”
