Air India cuts international schedule in the midst of security controls, medium -sized airspace problems

Air India has announced a temporary reduction in its international flight operations, citing security protocols prior to flight and extended flight durations due to airspace closures in the Middle East. The adjustments, as of June 21 at least July 15, are aimed at improving the stability of the schedule and minimizing the interruptions of the last minutes.

Three routes will be suspended during this period: Delhi-Nairobi (AI961/962), Amritsar-London Gatwick (AI169/170) and GOA (Mapa) -London Gatwick (AI145/146). In addition, several American and European routes will see a decrease in the flight frequency.

For North America, key changes include:

  • Delhi-Toronto: reduced to 7 flights per week from 13
  • Delhi-Vancouver: up to 5 from 7
  • Delhi-San Francisco: Cut at 7 from 10
  • Delhi-Chicago: reduced to 3 of 7
  • Delhi-Washington Dulles: cut at 3 of 5

In Europe:

  • Delhi-London Heathrow: reduced to 22 flights weekly from 24
  • Bengaluru-London Heathrow: Cut at 6 of 7
  • Amritsar/Delhi-Birmingham: reduced to 2 of 3
  • Delhi-Paris: now 12 flights weekly from 14
  • Delhi-Milan: Up to 4 of 7
  • Delhi-Copenhagen: reduced to 3 of 5
  • Delhi-Vienna and Delhi-Amsterdam: slightly trimmed

The reductions also apply to the routes in Australia and the Far East, including cuts in Delhi-Melbourne, Delhi-Sydney, Delhi-Tokyo (Haneda) and Delhi-Seul (INCHEON).

Air India is reaching affected passengers, offering alternative flight options, free reprogramming or complete refunds. Updated schedules are available on the website, application and contact centers of the airline. The airline reaffirmed its commitment to security and expressed its intention to resume complete services as soon as the conditions allow it.
