Trump considers to join Israel’s attacks on Iranian nuclear sites

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, is considering joining Israel’s attacks in Iran’s nuclear sites, since the conflict continues for a sixth day and angry rhetoric increases between all sides.

American attacks could involve the use of superior weapons to reach an underground nuclear place in Fordo, according to five sources that spoke with the US BBC partner, CBS News.

The president met with his national security team on Tuesday to discuss the next steps.

Israel and Iran have exchanged mortal strikes since Friday. Analysts say that Trump’s comments suggest a willingness to join the Israelis, despite their previous call to decallation and vocal support to a diplomatic solution to limit Iran’s nuclear research.

He has demonstrated a growing frustration due to the perceived lack of progress to ensure a new agreement that would be destined to prevent them from building a nuclear weapon. Trump retired from an previous agreement with Iran during his first term.

“The wise people who know Iran, their people and their history never talk to this nation in the language of threats, because the Iranians are not the ones who surrender,” he added.

The United States has insisted that Iran must discard its enrichment of uranium to prevent the country from developing nuclear weapons, although Iran insists that its nuclear activities are completely peaceful.

Trump retired from a prior nuclear agreement between Iran and five other world powers in 2018. After returning to office, he sent the negotiators to try to reach a new agreement with the Middle East Nation, without an advance.

Trump seems to have cooled in traditional diplomacy in recent days. On Tuesday, while traveling back to the United States from a G7 summit in Canada, he said that “he was not too humor to negotiate with Iran.”

Trump’s frustrated language implied that he was crossing a threshold that would be “very difficult to overcome,” said Professor Amnon Aran, an expert in Israeli foreign policy, BBC Radio 5 Live.

“We are definitely the closest we have been” for an entry in the United States in the conflict since it began, he added.

Other experts suggested that Trump could be forced to action. An former Israeli ambassador to the United States, Michael Oren, speculated that the president would feel that he had few more options than intervene if an American ship or base will attack.

However, such an attack could also be an Iranian tactic to boost Trump to pressurize Israel to negotiate the end of the fighting, Oren said to BBC today 4 program.

Trump himself told journalists upon G7 that his goal was “an end, a real ending, not a high fire.” His comments occurred only a few hours after he joined other leaders in the Western Alliance to issue a statement that required de -escalating in the Middle East.
