The former Tottenham star has a chance to revive his career thanks to the Arsenal legend

Dele Alli has been offered the opportunity to train with Cesc Fabregas’ Como in a bid to revive his career.

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, who has 37 caps for England, ended his contract with Everton during the summer. Dele was last seen in competitive action with Turkish side Besiktas and has not appeared professionally since February 2023.

Dele, a prodigious talent for his club and country, has spoken openly about the various traumas he has suffered throughout his life. Lingering injuries have contributed to what the midfielder has described as “a bad cycle”, but at just 28, Dele has plenty of time to return to a professional environment.

Counterintuitively, an Arsenal legend may offer the former Spurs star a route back to the top.

Dele was present for Como’s 2-0 home win against Roma on Sunday and Fabregas revealed he would be welcome at the club’s training ground. “He could train with us after Christmas to find his form,” the former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder told reporters on Monday.

Fabregas had returned to his boyhood club Barcelona when Dele broke into Tottenham’s first team, but the two clashed after the Spanish international joined Chelsea in 2014. In four head-to-head meetings, Dele managed accumulate five goals against teams like Fábregas.

Como could use a little more power and already has several experienced professionals. The former Liverpool duo of Pepe Reina (42) and Alberto Moreno (32) operate at the foot of the Alps, while former AC Milan and Wolves misfit Patrick Cutrone is the only member of the squad with more than two goals in league this season.
