‘I liked what we did’

Arne Slot said he was happy with what he saw of his Liverpool players when the reds ran out of 1-0 winners about Everton to extend their leadership at the top of the Premier League to 12 points.

Diogo Jota hit shortly after half a time in front of a typically strident crowd by Anfield to give the Slot La Victoria team and end the undefeated race of nine games of the toffee.

Beto had a goal in the first discarded half for the offside, while David Moyes’s team was lucky to finish the game with eleven players after James Tarkowski’s tracking in Alexis Mac Allister.

The result extends the undefeated Premier League race of Liverpool to 26 games and moves them 13 points of the title with eight remaining games. And Slot was pleased by the demonstration on his side.

“I liked what we did much more than in the game outside, where we scored two goals (in a 2-2 draw) but we barely created anything,” Slot said.

“Today we were almost constantly in its last third, but, still, it is difficult to score due to the number of players that bring around their 18 -yard box and the way they can defend themselves.

“We face a team that has not lost for nine games in a row. So we knew, apart from being the Derby of Merseyside, we face a very strong team, especially defensive.”

Slot was also asked about his opinion about the Tarkowski challenge, but Liverpool head was not humorous to get into the debate.

“Many people gave their opinion about it, and even people who are not in favor of Liverpool,” Slot said.

“They were so clear in their comments that it is not necessary to say anything else about it.

“I was so clear that it is not necessary for me to comment.”

Liverpool is in action when they travel to Fulham on Sunday.
