Posttecoglou in Richarlison returns before the Chelsea game

Tottenham head, Ange Postecoglou says Richarlison will not be able to return from an injury against Chelsea on Thursday.

However, the Brazilian has the possibility of appearing against Southampton the weekend after his last setback for injuries saw him lose the last two months with a calf problem.

Richarlison has not appeared since a muscle injury suffered in the loss of second semifinal leg of the Carabao 4-0 cup in Liverpool on February 6.

Tottenham injury news

He asked for an injury update at his press conference prior to the party, Postecoglou said: “Nothing new outside them (Richarlison, Kulusevski and Danso). Everyone else is fine and training. Radu (Dragusin) in the long term.

“Richy’s training, probably not tomorrow (for Chelsea game) but an opportunity for the weekend if he continues to train with the first team as it has been. He is improving.

“Deki (Kulusevski) and Kevin are progressing well and probably one or two weeks with them, they have not yet joined the team training, but they are progressing well.”

Ange ‘delighted’ with Romero International Action

Postecoglou also said he was “delighted” that defender Cristian Romero has presented twice for Argentina in international service despite returning to the action for the Spurs.

“I was delighted, friend. If you can spend two games with your national team, then it’s great for us.

“He has not played much football and soccer players need to play, so instead of sitting for two weeks.

“I needed games, you could see that in the performances with us before, especially in Fulham’s game in the 70th minute, it was practically cooked in terms of its physical aptitude, so overcoming two difficult games internationally is positive.”

Positive international rest

Many Spurs players were in action during international break and Postecoglou was pleased to see that many of their players obtained important minutes before the meeting of the season.

He added: “It was a good international rest for us. First of all, obviously nobody picked up anything, which is important, but also some boys got some game time that we thought it was going to be important, guys like (Cristian) Romero, Destiny (Udogie), Matty Tel (in the photo), Wilson (Odobert) and all these boys who lost a lot of football recently, all good play.

“Those who played all did relatively well, everyone returned and we had a strong training group in recent days.”
