Eddie Howe will be awarded with Freedom of Newcastle after winning the Caabao Cup

Newcastle United’s manager Eddie Howe, will be awarded the freedom of the city after the historic Victoria of the Club Cup of the Club over Liverpool.

Howe took the Uracas to a 2-1 victory on Sunday, ensuring its first important trophy since 1969.

In recognition for this achievement, you will receive the highest civic honor that Newcastle can grant previously awarded recognition to club legends such as Sir Bobby Robson, Alan Shearer and Jackie Milburn.

The announcement occurs when another local hero, defender Dan Burn, has been nominated for the freedom of Northumberland.

The player born in Blyth played a key role in the final, scoring Newcastle’s opening goal in Wembley, the first of the club in the stadium in 25 years.

Karen Kilgour, leader of the Newcastle City Council, was delighted to name Howe for honor.

“Generations of followers have never seen their beloved club lift a domestic trophy, and under their leadership, we have all treasured memories of a truly unforgettable day,” he said.

The formal confirmation of Howe’s prize is expected to take place at a complete meeting of the Council at the end of this year.

Meanwhile, the leader of the County Council of Northumberland, Glen Sanderson, praised Burn’s contribution and confirmed the plans to nominate him for the freedom of Northumberland.

“It is a great victory for the region and the fact that a local boy at Blyth played such a crucial part of the trip is wonderful,” he said.

In addition to these honors, the Northumberland National Park has paid tribute to Burn in a unique way, temporarily renamed Elsdon Burn Walk as “Big Dan Burn Walk.”

“The Northumberland National Park is a place as great and expansive as Dan,” they added, referring to the imposing height of the defender 6 feet and 6 inches.

The club’s Cup Cup victory will be marked with an open bus parade through the city. Newcastle United has urged fans to “save the date” for March 29, after international rest, when players and staff will exhibit their old roofs.
