Uber and Waymo launch autonomous walks in Austin, Texas.
Waymo de Uber and Alphabet will launch the autonomous walks in Texas on Tuesday, marking an important milestone in the autonomous industry that progresses rapidly.
Austin passengers can be combined with a totally autonomous Waymo Jaguar vehicle, which will allow them to travel through 37 miles in the area. But companies are already planning to expand the service to Atlanta. The company did not specify when the service would launch in Georgia, but said that its employees are already making totally autonomous trips in the city, which says it is a “key step while we prepare to offer Waymo trips to the public there.”

How works:
- The runners will first have to opt for the service. Passengers requesting an Uberx, Uber Green, Uber Comfort or Uber Comfort Electric could coincide with the Jaguar I-Pace All Electric Jaguar vehicle at no additional cost. However, they will have the option to accept it or change to a non -autonomous trip.
- Passengers can increase their possibilities of coinciding with an autonomous trip by opting through the UBER application preferences section.

- When the car arrives, passengers can unlock the vehicle, open the trunk and start the trip in its application. They will pay the same rates that would do so for an Uberx, Uber Green, Uber Comfort or Uber Comfort Electric, and will see the prices in advance.
- Passengers will be able to qualify their experience later, but they will not be asked for the tip.

- Passengers will have access to human support 24/7, which is offered in the Uber application and within the Waymo vehicle.
- The vehicle fleet will be administered by Avomo, which includes cleaning vehicles, maintenance, inspections, loading and deposit operations. However, Waymo will supervise vehicles, road assistance and certain aspects of driver’s support.
