Recently, Deadpool Creator Rob Liefeld surprised fans around the world when he declared that he would never work with Marvel again after an alleged incident with Kevin Feige. Liefeld said he was rejected by the other man during the Deadpool and Wolverine Soon before making a fairly explosive statement: “Kevin Feige does not treat comics creators well.” The MCU fandom was surprised, but they should not have been because Feiga reaced in a similar way to the creators of winter soldiers Ed Brubaker and Steve Epting.
All this began when the creator of Deadpool went to attend the premiere of Deadpool and Wolverine. According to Rob Liefeld, Kevin Feige did not recognize him on the red carpet and this desaite “I was destined to embarrass me, decrease, defeat me.” Liefeld also made other accusations, including that he and his family were denied entry to the subsequent party of the film and that his photos and the Deadpool and Wolverine The creative team was subsequently eliminated.
Due to all this, Rob Liefeld made the decision to cut all ties with Kevin Feige and Marvel. “At some point, you say: ‘I have received the message and the message is clear,'” he said, which implies that Marvel no longer wants it. The newest MCU fans can find these frankly shocking accusations, but if you are old enough to remember how Ed Brubaker and Steve Epting were treated by Marvel Bigwigs, you will not be surprised.
An important context here is that Brubaker is responsible for creating the character of Winter Soldier along with Steve Epting. Together, these two transformed Captain America Barnes’s classic partner into a Soviet murderer brainwashing with a robotic arm. Became a main character in Captain America: The Winter Soldier And the character’s creators appeared, in Tuxedos, to attend the main party of that movie.
Brubaker, apparently, had a similar experience with Rob Liefeld and Kevin Feige’s company was severely rejected. As reported, Brubaker and Epting were rejected when they tried to attend the premiere party. The only reason they got access is that Brubaker called Sebastian Stan, who later assured that they were allowed to enter the party.
The story about what happened to Brubaker and Epting is extraordinarily Similar to the stories of Ay de Rob Liefeld about Kevin Feige and other executive powers. Like Brubaker, Liefeld is the co -creator of an incredibly popular Marvel character, Deadpool, who believes that certain courtesies were believed as an invitation to the later party. However, Liefeld argues that it was unarmed, which seems especially atrocious taking into account that Deadpool and Wolverine He took the MCU from an apparent spiral of death.
At this point, it seems that nothing will reverse Rob Liefeld’s decision to get away from Marvel, including Kevin Feige. But we cannot avoid cheering the effort of Deadpool’s creator to highlight how comics creatives are treated by executives who earn millions and millions of dollars with their characters. Liefeld is known for his inability to draw his feet. Fortunately, the legendary creator planted his own feet firmly on the ground to resist the attempts of a mega corporation of supposedly hurting him.
And when it comes to calling executives who deserve to be reduced to size, we can only expect Rob Liefeld to give “the maximum effort” to his criticism after Kevin Feige.
