Associated Press said Tuesday that the White House prohibited its reporter for an event in the Oval office because the news agency would not start using the “Gulf of America” to describe the Gulf of Mexico.
A statement said that an AP reporter was not allowed to attend the signing of an executive order in the afternoon. The president of the United States, Donald Trump and Elon Musk, who is in charge of the Government Efficiency Department (Doge), were in the event.
“It is alarming that the Trump administration punishes AP for its independent journalism. The agency said that Mount McKinley would adopt for Alaska peak because “the area is only in the United States and, as president, Trump has the authority to change federal geographical names within the country.”
