Cracker Barrel promises that there are no egg surcharges, double rewards after Waffle House’s announcement

Cracker Barrel is consolidating as a good egg in the restaurant industry, promising customers constant prices after the recent announcements for the surcharge of competitors’ eggs.

“Egg prices stay, but we are doubling their rewards,” the company wrote in a Facebook post.

On Thursday night, the company announced that the members of Cracker Barrel Rewards will also win double pins in all egg dishes until Wednesday.

Dump: egg prices increase almost 37 percent

The announcement occurs after the ongoing outbreaks of the avian flu led to an increase in egg prices and limited availability throughout the country.

Earlier this week, Fox Business reported that a series of companies plan to add egg surcharges in the middle of the recent scarcity.

Waffle House, an extensive food chain from the south of breakfast, implemented on Monday a .50 per temporary egg per egg in all its menus.

Egg prices do not decrease in the short term, experts say

The company issued a statement by saying that both consumers and restaurants are “forced to make difficult decisions.”

“Instead of increasing prices throughout the menu, this is a temporary surcharge and objective linked to the unprecedented increase in egg prices,” the company wrote.

While price fluctuations will be “short -term”, the company said it is not clear how long the shortage will last.

Waffle House, which has almost 2,000 locations in 25 states, clarified eggs will remain in the menu, but these prices will be adjusted as market conditions allow.

Sean Kennedy, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs of the National Restaurant Association, explained that during the shortage, the operators collaborate with food suppliers to evaluate the impact.

Later they can make the decision to stop financial toll by altering the menus or increasing prices.
