No one works harder to franchise their products like Sony. After Spider-Man’s supporting cast repeatedly proved to be flops in live action, the company is now turning to adapting PlayStation games for television and the big screen. From current hits like Horizon and helldivers to now archived serious fever and days gone by, It seems that anything is viable to adapt.
Insomniac Games, the studio behind Ratchet and metallic noise and the recent spider man titles, hopes to jump on that trend. In a recent Variety interview, future co-director Ryan Schneider, who will lead alongside Chad Durzen and Jen Huang when current CEO and founder, Ted Price leaves in March—said there was interest in bringing the studio’s games to television and movies. The developer had an “early start” with the Ratchet 2016 computer-generated film, which was also accompanied by a PlayStation 4 remake of the original game that integrated plot points and scenes from the film.

Right now, Sony is very busy adapting the aforementioned franchises, including the last of us second season on HBO in April. Meanwhile, Insomniac is primarily working on Marvel’s Wolverine, Dezern said he would “love to talk” but only when the time is right. “We have to be like Logan today and remain very stoic until it’s time to get the claws out of the way,” he joked to Variety. “As much as we have repressed emotion, we have to hold on to it.”
