Jamie Foxx reveals that he had a brain hemorrhage that caused him to have a stroke

Jamie said she “went through something” that she thought would “never, ever” happen.

“I want you to see me laughing, having a good time partying, telling a joke, making a movie, a television show. “I didn’t want you to see me with tubes coming out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it,” he continued. “I can’t tell you how wonderful it feels to have your family acting that way and everyone knows that they kept it tight, they didn’t let anything out, they protected me, and that’s what I hope everyone can have. in times like these.”

“We still don’t know what happened to me,” Foxx said during the special, describing how he experienced a severe headache on April 11, 2023. He asked a friend for aspirin, but “Before I could get the aspirin, it came out.”

“I don’t remember 20 days. “What they told me was that they took me to the first doctor and that first doctor gave me a cortisone shot and sent me home,” he continued. “What the fuck is that? “I don’t know if you can do Yelps for doctors, but that’s a half star, n—a,” he joked.

His sister sought a second opinion

Foxx shared how her younger sister, Deidra Dixonwhom he described as “4 feet 11 inches of nothing but love,” did not accept the first doctor’s treatment. “She says, ‘Put him in the car.’ That’s not my brother,’” Foxx recalled, explaining that his sister eventually took him to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

At the hospital, a doctor told the Oscar winner’s sister: “He has a brain hemorrhage that has caused a stroke.” Foxx said, “He said, ‘If I don’t get inside his head right now, we’re going to lose him.'”

“They took me in for surgery and my sister came down outside the operating room and prayed the whole time,” he continued, joking that he didn’t “see the light” but “saw the tunnel.” And he added: “It was hot in the tunnel. (I thought) ‘Shit, am I going to the wrong place in this motherfucker?’”

Foxx reveals he suffered a stroke

After operating for the brain hemorrhage, the doctor told Foxx’s sister that he had suffered a stroke. “’You may be able to make a full recovery, but it will be the worst year of your life,’” the doctor told Foxx’s sister.

“That’s what it was, Atlanta. You finally understood the story,” Foxx said, overcome with emotion.

How his daughter helped his recovery

“My vitals were so bad they thought they were going to lose me,” Foxx said of the first 15 days after his medical emergency. “That’s when a miracle happened, and that miracle came through my youngest daughter,” he added, referring to 15-year-old Anelise.

“I didn’t want her to see me like that. She snuck into my hospital room with her guitar and said, ‘I know what my dad needs,'” Foxx recalled, saying that as her daughter played the guitar, her vital signs stabilized. He then introduced Anelise to the stage to play her guitar.

Why did he disappear from the public eye?

Foxx praised his sister and daughter, Corrine, 30, for jumping into action after his stroke. “They held me down to the core. Nobody sees it! “They cut everything,” he said. “They didn’t want you to see me like that and I didn’t want you to see me like that. “I was flown to Chicago for rehab,” he continued. “I told all the therapists who came, ‘Get out of here.’ “I gave up.”

Finally, a physical therapist named Holly gave him some love and got him started rehabbing.

While taking the stage at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta, Foxx said, “Just a quarter mile from here, at Piedmont Hospital, they put me back together. God be the glory.”

“They said he was paralyzed. He said he couldn’t walk. But look at me now,” he joked, dancing to Unk’s “Walk It Out.”

Without missing a beat, Foxx continued with a joke about the recent accusations against Sean “Diddy” combs – particularly his supposed “freak out” parties.

“The Internet said Puffy tried to kill me. That’s what the Internet said. I know what you’re thinking: ‘Did he do it?’” Foxx joked. “Hell no, na. I left the parties early. I left at 9, na. ‘Something doesn’t look right, n—a. It’s slippery in here, n—a.”

Later detailing how he couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel while in a coma, he joked that he saw Diddy at the end. “I thought I saw the devil. Or was it Puffy? he joked. “I’m fucking around. But if it was Puffy, he had a burning bottle of Johnson & (baby oil).”
