Sridhar Vembu, the founder of Zoho Corp, believes that the future of technological and business success of India lies in its villages. In a publication about X (previously Twitter), he urged ambitious engineers and entrepreneurs with a “long -term horizon” to look beyond the main cities and consider rural India as the place to build their dreams.
“If you are an intelligent ambitious engineer or businessman with a long -term horizon, Rural India is a great place to build your dream,” Vembu wrote. He pointed out that, unlike rural areas in developed countries, Rural India has a youth demographic group. In contrast, Indian cities trust the migration of villages to maintain their workforce.
Vembu challenged entrepreneurs to rethink their approach: “Why not go to the source of talent? With that talent?
However, he emphasized that success in these regions requires patience and a long -term mentality. “The part of ‘long -term horizon’ is extremely important. If you want an exit in 3 years, forget it! And look beyond English and involve talent in its native language,” he advised.
The call to the action of Vembu occurs only a few weeks after giving up as CEO of Zoho Corp. recently made the transition to the role of chief scientist, changing its focus towards research and development. His latest message reinforces his belief in decentralization and rural empowerment: values that have shaped the Zoho approach to the development of talent for years.
